RE: Week 42 - ITF ($25K) Glasgow, UK Hard

Maia faded badly in the 3rd set, but I think both players can come out of this match with plenty of positives.

She was fighting at the end. Saved a number of match points. I didn't watch all of the set but I did think it was more competitive than the score suggests.

Tara has finally found her groove in this match, waiting around all day probably didn't help her at the start.

6-1 in the second but as I say that she wasn't able to capitalise on 3 bp opportunities in the 1st game of the 3rd set *0-1.

I had my doubts about Maia doing much in this company but what a great few days she has had! Poor Lisa looked nervous from the start and Maia was hitting all the lines. Eventually the adult power of Lisa got on top and Maia began to make more errors. In a few years Maia will have the physique to really challenge at this level. I can't wait! Bet Lisa is glad that one is over and I hope she does well against Vrljic tomorrow.

Mayr-A looked very good. She has played here before a few years ago but failed to impress. Seems to be on top form now and there was little Francesca could do today.

Emily was well on top against Bowtell. Saw it from a distance and I have no idea what happened to turn it sour. Only other match I saw was Sam Murray well on top against Jade. In truth I have seen Jade play far better than she managed today against a more powerful opponent. The courts seem very fast this week, which may have had something to do with it.

Vrljic has a career high of 191, set in 2008, and beat Lisa 5 & 2 in Torhout 2 years ago. Gatto-Monticone's career high is 231, set last year.

Well, Sam definitely won the 1st set 6 - 1, I think. The match was over quite quickly so I presume she won but not confirmed.

Confirmed now

Samantha Murray beats 2nd seed Cristina-Andreea Mitu, world ranked 199, 6-1 6-0 to reach QF
