A creditable looking scoreline from Hoyt but a disappointing result for Willis.

I'd like to know what happened in that MTB!

Was there briefly... Rosenzweig  beat Crawford 6-3 in the 3rd - he serves with either hand (right hand from the deuce court) and whilst I was watching hit forehands from both wings - seemed to prefer volleying with his forehand too.

Pauffley was in the early stages of his match - he looks quite handy.

The remainder of the doubles  results:

R1:  Yannick Ebbinghaus & Colin van Beem (NED/NED) WR 1675 "defeated" Sizya Ernest Kivanda & Isaac Stoute UNR by a walkover

***

QF:  (4) Miles Bugby & Josh Goodall WR 1240 defeated Richard Gabb & Ashley Hewitt WR 2737 by 3 & 2

QF:  (3) Marcus Daniell & Milan Pokrajac (NZL/CAN) WR 801 defeated Harry Meehan & Marcus Willis by 6-3 7-6(3)

There is no Brit interest in the fourth-quarter QF.

I think that means all 14 matches involving Brits went to the higher-ranked player today - making the GB top 25 table a sea of blue (blue for a win, obviously - or at least, it will be when 'free'webs stops playing up[ and lets me upload it!), since all those in the GB top 25 won. Like RJA, I did think Marcus Willis would win though.

Yes, all 14 of the 17 GB top 25 players playing this week ( all in futures ) have won their R1 matches with just the USA trio to come in.  Corrie should have played his Tuesday match, but don't know the result.  But whatever, we can't have all 17 win, because Smethurst plays Milton tomorrow - boo.
