Anne's singles is 2nd up after 11:00 UK time tomorrow, on Center court. It should be streamed.
Meanwhile, 2nd up on Court 1 is Anika Beck vs. Lucie Hradecka. A match with some GB significance because if Beck wins she will enter the Top 100 for the first time. Donna Vekic having failed last week to manage the same thing - falling one win short. Beck would become the youngest player in the Top 100, being 26 days younger than Laura. Annika has 48 points to defend later in the year though, so may not stay there.
Too often in these sort of matches one player gets the break and gifts is straight back. Good to see Anne had different ideas, with some big serves securing an easy hold for 5-2*.
And Anne breaks again for 6-2. Bertens standard fell right off at the end of that set. Hopefully for Anne she doesn't get it back again.

Some nice touches at the end, like the way she responded to the netcord and the pass down the line for the win. Only saw the last few games, Bertens was dire. Even one of the mps she saved looked as though it was more out than in.

Excellent! Anne wins 6-2 6-2 Easily her best result since the grass court season. Played smart today, and much better than when I saw her in the USA recently.
Add: #1 seed Vinci and then probably Venus lie in wait though - quite what Venus is doing playing here I'm not sure, but it's nice to see her - until she's in a Brit's way that is.

I was hoping she might find a way to beat Bertens again. but to do it with an even more emphatic scoreline than in her two wins against her last year was completely unexpected.
A pity she didn't win the fqr as well, but there you go - at least she has a decent chance of hanging on in the top 100 now, as SMC says, though she's virtual 99 (approx) and there are still some who could overtake.
H2H v Vinci is 1-1 - Anne won way back in 2003 and Vinci won in the semis here two years ago.

Bertens was awful, but Anne played a very solid match and 30 points on the board and hopefully a springboard for some late indoor success. Vinci then Venus isn't exactly a cakewalk draw but lets see what she can do.
