L32: (8) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 488 v Yuuya Kibi (JAP) WR 1009
Glad to see Fitzy in the draw here. According to the ITF site, he has withdrawn from next weeks Japan F9 tournament and I was beginning to wonder if he had just jumped on a plane and headed back to the UK after his experiences in Vietnam.
Sorry to have to report but my hunch about Fitzy was correct. He has now emailed me to say that he has just arrived back in London. He wanted me to let people know what had happened, so here is the relevant part of the email.
So I turned up to tokyo airport and the person who I was staying with was supposed to meet me.
They didn't turn up. Wouldn't reply to messages or calls. I had no other way of staying anywhere, no money for hotels. So I had to sleep in the airport for 24 hours and get on the next flight to england. Using my last 150 quid to pay to change the flight. I'm gob smacked at how bad this trip has been.
Just can't put it into words. Fuming. Disappointed, lost. Broke financially and mentally.
I just really wish there was a way in which we could get together and help him in some way. Any ideas ?
