Week 41 - WTA ($220K) - Osaka, Japan - Hard

Great to finally be able to see some of Heather's match via the YouTube links.

Great shot by Heather to bring up MP in the tie-break, in which the standard of tennis was understandably not the best given what was at stake. The I watched the game at 6-5 and they played some excellent rallies in that game which suggests both players were playing to a very high level at times.

A longer version of the BBC News inverview is on their website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/19965008

Well done, I've been looking for something like that on and off for the last couple of days - looks like it might only have uploaded last night. There is also video of the 12th game of the 3rd set at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3z_eOKLGbc&feature=plcp

The commentators get very excited in the 6-5* game - I particularly enjoyed the way the video ends - "Chang-ka ... Watoosoon-ka"

I found myself saying "go on Hev" more than once to the computer screen during that tie-break. Even though I know the score and the outcome. It is just great for us to have two excellent young players breaking through like this.

Something at last, way to go.

Also Hev is going to be on the national BBC1 broadcast at 1 o'clock.

She's going to be on in the next few minutes - there's a stream at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_one_london/watchlive if you want to watch it but can't get to a TV.

The was an article on Heather in today's Evening Standard that is mostly a rehash of press conference quotes / other articles, but did mention that her next appearance is a mixed doubles at the Masters event at the Royal Albert Hall, playing with Tim Henman against Anne & Mark Philippoussis, and then probably starting the season in Auckland.
