Q2: ROBSON, Laura (GBR) 4 57 v GIORGI, Camila (ITA) 95 Q2: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 12 78 v LARSSON, Johanna (SWE) 15 84
Heather beat Larsson in three last year.
But I think it's Laura that has to beat her this year according to the draw I'm looking at ?
Interesting. Draw order has definitely changed.
Here is what I wrote when the original draw first came out.
Laura Robson (4) Vs Garbine Muguraza Then either Julia Cohen or Johanna Larsson (15) Should get through that I think if she's recovered from Guangzhou sufficiently well.
Heather Watson (12) vs WC Ran Tian Then either Mandy Minella (6) or Camilla Giorgi
Can't see why it's changed, or why the two GB players would have had their sets of matches switched in particular.
Weird!
Addition: BBC red button Tennis still carrying the old match ups as nex for our girls.
Oh, and I see Serena & Venus have succumbed to their seasonal flu again Doubts about Azarenka playing here too.

And this is the one that makes sense. The top 8 qualifying seeds would be due to play the 9 - 16 seeds. Not seed 12 v 15, and 4 v the player who beat 6.

Even more of a shock when, according to the tournament website live scoring, Heather lost the first set 6-2 and was completely outplayed in all stats.
The live score then inexplicably changed to show a completely different set of scores and stats. Had they been following the wrong game? Heather now (apparently) taking the first set 7-5
First set Laura 6-3 3 breaks to 1, won 58% of points, looking good.
This from the Beijing Open Live score - given the glirch mentioned earlier for Heather's game, thought I'd better mention it, in case the same thing happens again.
