Actually from those cold figures, in the end, that looks like a pretty solid performance! UNdoubtedly the first set was the ugliest of it before Heather pushed on.
Still, lots of work to do to make the next real step up in the rankings and performance.
30 points this week Helps offset the 78 from Shrewsbury last year. Another win would cover it, and also cover all of the points she has to defend until the end of the year. That would leave her with pure upside as far as points go, for the rest of the year. Hopefully the draw will be kind, and she can make it happen.
But, well done to Heather for qualifying and earning the chance to make big points this week.

Thanks very much for the commentary IF. always good to see how matches have gone. I was a bit confused though in that it was very judgemental at times without any description of actual shots. Was there a stream or just radio or what

6 extra points so far this week, a victory tonight would add another 10 to that. But she'll need some solid MD results to really start back up the rankings as she needs 50 or more to gain more than a place. Hopefully tonight will kick off a strong end of season push.
I have no idea who is going to win this match but I'm fairly certain that the winner will finish the contest with less confidence in their game than they started the match, and the loser will be a wreck.
Hlavackova serves for it for a second time, and this time sets up 15-40* which is all she needs. An attritional first set of 66 minutes slips away from Heather. 5-7
That may sum up Heather's career from here on, despite her efforts on court, the spectre of Laura will be just around the corner waiting to pop in and overshadow her at any time.
Heather seems to have discovered something though, perhaps worked out some service pattern or other key to Hlavackova's game, as she sets up 40-0* again, and breaks to 15 for a strong-ish lead. Normally 2 breaks would be enough, but tonight, well... playing more commandingly though, which is encouraging. *4-0

Yeah suppose so, just posted it in this thread since it's the only one people will probably be following at this time and doubt a recording would be available online in the morning.
Only lasted about 10 minutes and I missed most of it, they had digressed to Andy and the American election pretty quickly.
At least this set seems to be going better for Heather
