Harriet returned to England for the Shrewsbury 75K whilst Lana couldn't maintain last week's form, and lost in qualifying. That leaves Tom Hill and Katy Dunne from last week's quartet. Katy's first round opponent is no pushover, having reached a Grade 2 final this year
Someone like Katy should be playing the 10k in Egypt. These junior events do nothing for her development (assuming she is wanting to go pro of course).
I haven't heard anything about whether Katy is going to join the large band of British female tennis players currently at US Universites/Colleges or is going to try the Pro Circuit. Her tournament schedule (and results) suggest the former. She's off to a good start here anyway
Boys R1 (L32)
Tom Hill (GBR) d. Petros Chrysochos (CYP) 6-3 6-2
R2
Tom Hill (GBR) v (3) Aleksandr Ivanovich Spirin (RUS)
Girls R1 (L32)
(5) Katy Dunne (GBR) d. Ksenia Laskutova (RUS) 6-3 6-2
Katy's Maureen Connolly nickname applies as she claims the scalp of the second seed. Her semifinal opponent won the Aphrodite Cup a couple of weeks ago, beating Harriet Dart en route
I noticed Katy tweeted this earlier today "Into the final of the 2 in egypt :) oh yeah and i beat a girl yesturday who used to take drugs waaahey!"
Anyone know anything about this? Surely if a player was found guilty of doping in the juniors they couldn't have served a ban and still be young enough to play?

I see that Katy's tweet has since been deleted, thus putting into question its accuracy
Katy becomes the first British girl to win a title at Grade 2 level or above since Heather Watson won the US Open 2 years ago --- but couldn't add the doubles title ("lost dubs final 11-9 in the 3rd, was pretty tough considering my partner was my opponent half an hour before, she hadnt quite got over it!")
Katy should move up to around 70, so it's looking promising for 2 British girls to gain direct entry to a Grand Salm for the first time in a while - however Katy has big points to defend in Osaka
