QF: James Ward WR 248 v Michael Yani (USA) WR 228 (CH 143 in 2010)

H2H 1-1 - James won in the Sarasota Challenger semis in 2009 in a 3rd set tiebreak, Yani won in straight sets in QR1 at the US Open last year.

James certainly sent a message to you Wu Di (igmc).

Even by my standards, that's terrible!

Yani broke in game 12 (at the third opportunity) to take the first set 7-5. Neither player had had a break point prior to that game.

Tweet from James, doesn't look good

"Had to retire today from my match- my wrist is bad again and am going home to see the docs! Long grind home from #shanghai"

At least he defended his points from Bangkok and Shanghai
