I think "Crankypants" was the name given to Ryan by Mary Jo Fernandes (sp?) because apparently he throws tantrums and shows bad temper on court frequently. I've never heard anything against the younger brother.

Not Christian, Ryan:  so dubbed by Mary Carillo on the Tennis Channel in the US & apparently with a bit of a reputation for racket-throwing & a fondness for indulging in bad language on court, if the New York Times & US tennis fans are to be believed.

Ah, I knew it was one of the American commentators.

like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IzJ9yA6XXw, i think i know who he idolises!

It is hardly unusual for a teenager to have a go at an umpire when they are on the receiving end of a shocking call like that, especially on a big point.

Considering the call, I'd suggest not just teenagers, but yes even more so in their cases. In this case he wasn't really that bad and didn't even exaggerate it. It looked a "good" 3 inches out.

Don't personally think that commentators should be giving people "nicknames" of that ilk. Sorry to see Fleming and Hutchins lose, though. And hurrah for Delgado and Skupski! Maybe Marray/Nielsen can give them some tips. (Rather wish it had been Marray and Nielsen who beat Petzchner ... poetic justice and all)

Apparently BBC Sports Extra are doing commentary on the Delgado/Skupski match.

Also on Sky interactive and the usual streams.

Women's doubles before this is at 4-4 in the 3rd.

All of the semi-finalists are in the current top 8 of the race, so I think I'm right in saying that Marray/Nielsen are guaranteed a place in the Tour Finals.

Yep,  think the deal is  pretty much clinched.   Once the winners get their 2000 points added and bearing in mind where Paes / Stepanek and Mirnyi / Nestor already stand, I can't realistically see any other Slam winner not finishing in the top 8, so at worst Marray / Nielson would be the best ( and only ) Slam winner not in the top 8.  Hence the Tour Finals await  smile
