Don't know what it looked like, but it sounded like absolutely spectacular play on radio (and that was US Open radio, not even a British broadcaster!) Amazing. I am sorry for Ms Clijsters, who is a superb player and seems a truly lovely person and role model. But in a sense, she would have been doing a "one last time" ... whereas this must do tremendous things for Ms Robson's confidence and may help her to go forward to great things. Better perhaps to lose to someone with such potential in an amazing match than to go quietly at some later stage?
What a great performance. So worth waiting up til to 2.30 am to see Laura win. The shot she hit at 5-5 in the second set tie break was just unbelievable. No sign of nerves. It's now 3am and I am just too buzzed to sleep.
I lost the live stream at 3-3 in the 2nd set tie break supposedly due to copyright problem so missed the last few points - Grrrrr!
Up to that point she seemed to be playing as if she expected to win, even when down on her own service she didn't seem in the least bit phased. A very very good performance!
