Week 34 - US Open Qualifying

Great first round draw for Josh. Almost all of Andreozzi's success has come on clay so Josh should be favourite for that match. After that things get tougher with (q10) Frederico Gil likely being his second round opponent but again Gil favours the devil dirt. (q29) Sergei Bubka is the other seed in that section.

Not ideal for James but not the the worst draw either. (q15) Daniel Brands is the other seed in his section.

Wardy has lost to Tursunov in R2 of the Nottingham Challenger in 2011 and 2012. Josh could hardly have dreamt of a better draw, let's hope he can take advantage.

I've been out of the loop with the Brits lately. Where's Jamie Baker? And why hasn't Ward played since Wimbledon?

Wardy picked up a wrist injury a few weeks back and only just made it back in time for the US Open. As for Baker, I don't know, it seems very strange.

Wardy up first at 1pm on one of the livestreamed courts, picture is a bit hit and miss though.

He's lucky to be on one of only two courts that seem to get TV streaming.

However, just strated spitting with rain - commentators say it will be on and off all day.

Somebody needs to tell Josh that Chelsea have equalised.

Not to mention taken the lead (Torres in the 81st minute - not a Chelski fan, by the way!), especially as he lost the first set by 3-6! cry

Doesn't say much for the standard of tennis at Futures level if Josh is getting destroyed on hardcourt against a claycourter. Didn't even create a single bp against an opponent serving 53%.

James suddenly wins 4 games in a row to take the second set 6-2

Have to say I'm enjoying the excellent stream on the US Open site - HD quality with multiple cameras
