RE: Week 34 - WTA ($637K) - New Haven, CT, USA Hard

Other tweets from Mr McCarvel during the match in chronological order:

Robson challenged Bartoli nicely in the first, but her serve has dipped a bit and so too has her confidence. A set and 0-3 down

#Bartoli sprinted to 4-0 lead in second, but three DFs and a wild backhand long gives Robson a little bit of life.

Robson serve and forehand finding their way a bit again here in game six, 30-all

Robson pulls together an impressive hold for 2-4 in the second. Down the backhand winners? Yep. #impressive

Robson-Bartoli was looking like a blowout, but Laura breaks for a second time this set and we're on serve at 3-4, the Brit serving

#Robson broken at love. Still has to tighten up that part of her mental game. Now Bartoli serves for it, 5-3

Apparently Bartoli has a right shoulder problem at the moment, hence her large number of DFs, as a result she has additional focus on the strongest part of her game , her return.

If you're trying to draw a positive on Laura's serve, she managed to get 80% of her second serves into court compared with only 73% against Radwanska, progress.

Spot on, I agree progressing nicely, with a small caveat that can be fixed very quickly.

Laura since Wimbledon very quick collation.

Make of it what you will. For me, DF's to hand over games and in clusters is what's holding her back from beating most of these players.

Laura Since Wimbledon

Good point.

160 points to defend at USO - needs to win 2 matches. As long as the draws kind that's well within her compass.

If she wins 1 round, she loses 60 points and might, just, drop out the top 100.

If the draw is unkind, and she loses 1st round, she'll drop to ~115.

But, would still be the youngest in the top 150, and only 9 in the top 200 are younger. The highest rank of those is Annika Beck at 141.

There hasn't been much doubt in my ind for a month or so now that once Laura sorts out her sorve (or should I say if), she'll get top 30 pretty quickly if not top 10.

You were really just seeing if we were still awake weren't you.  How about Laura's the youngest player in the top 140 given Annika is younger  wink

Erm, yeah, that's it. Well done, you passed!
