EWS at least takes Lucic to deuce in the first game - hopefully a sign of things to come. It's streamed, in high quality, if anyone else is around at 04:30
*0-1
*0-3
1-3*
1-5*
1-6
There's good movement from Emily, and no lack of application or effort - she is making Lucic work in most every point - but Lucic is just far too good for her at this point in time.
Set 2
1-0*
I think we'll draw a veil over that one there, and hope to be pleasantly surprised in the morning - Good luck Em.
NB: Bouchard won 6-4 6-3 and that flattered Voskoboeva, who didn't play badly, but Eugenie still thrashed her, and she herself wasn't even playing 'great' - the sort of ruthlessly impressive performance I've been hoping our girls might produce in their respective tournaments this week, and previously.

Great too see Anne fighting her way to the 2nd set after that disastrous 1st set.
More good news - Jackk321 on Twitter just noticed that Emily is in as a LL for top seed Kerber and plays former worlkd no. 32 (Q) Mirjana Lucic (CRO) WR 97 n/b 02.30 tonight our time.

That is good news - Kerber must've been tired after the Cincy battle with Li Na. Hope EWS can do the opportunity justice.
Yes. The UE's are starting to flow from Marina a bit now - consecutive errant FH's gives *30-0 immediately, and another gives Anne the hold, to 15. 2-2*
This match should be brilliant to watch, it has swung back and forth so often ... but actually it just makes you wish it would finish as soon as possible! A wonderful recovery from Anne though, if only she can complete it - MP!
