Chan's previous service solidity disappears and Annie takes the second set. Good work. I honestly didn't have faith that would happen. Gladly hang my head in shame.
Radwanska beats Lucic 6-2 6-2, so will be Laura's next opponent.
Their respective scores suggest Laura will have to up her game for tomorrow. Radwanska is about as tough an opponent as it is possible to face in a WTA qualifyer, being ranked in the top 50 and with good recent results.
Good to see Anne battle back and take the second set. Less good that she's been broken already in the decider.
I remember Anne losing to Chan at the US Open a couple of years back in 3 sets. Afterwards she described Chan as a wall that hacked the ball to death. I think Chan is the type of player that frustrated Anne into going for too much and maybe frustrated her into a collapse at the end...
I watched Laura play Radwanska in Shrewsbury in 2008, she ran rings round her, 3 and 3 I think. Radwanska was hurling her racket at one stage and accusing the linesmen of favouritism towards Laura. I fancy this time will not be so easy but let's hope she can repeat the feat....
Game 5 - a marathon game of either 12 or 13 deuces (I lost count).
Laura faces 5 more break points, two of them provided courtesy of yet more DF's.
This time the first serves go in almost regularly, but, ultimately, it's still not enough to prevent another break. 35+ minutes for 5 games played. Kinda glad this ones not streamed.
1-4*
A quick hold for Radwanska. When her fist serve goes in, she wins the point. Laura is lucky that today Urszula can't serve for toffees, otherwise this scoreline would be even uglier than it currently is.
*1-5
A Robson hold!
2-5*
