As has been said before, the semi-final is where the ranking points allow you to make decent strides. This should push Fitzy to a new career high. Just think what two more wins would do.
The answer is "Not quite into the top 400" in case you were wondering).
Evo was deserving of his comfortable win against Milton who struggled today and missed far more shots than you would ever expect him to. Evo wasn't at his best but was more than good enough to beat a player of Milton's limited abilities. As usual watching Evo the biggest question that springs to mind is how does a player with his obvious class continue to lose matches against players who he should beat 10 times out of 10. Milton only held serve twice in the match, once in the first game of the match and then again at *1-5 in the second.
Fitzy was the better player in his match but he very nearly threw it away. He seemed to be cruising at 6-4, *4-3 but was broken back and at *4-5 had to save two set points. Fortunately he recovered well and took it in a tight tie break. However he possibly had some luck on his side. His opponent was incensed at a number of umpiring decisions especially on big points.
Only watched the first set and half of Cox v Goodall (I left when it started raining). Neither player was anywhere near their best, especially on serve, and it was a pretty turgid ball bashing affair. I not from the LTA twitter that Goodall eventually won in 3 sets.
Great week for me so far, played well indoors first round Vs tutu. Then outside next round Vs golding was a big match for more than one reason. I played really well. Very happy with that performance. Today was about backing that up and making the semi finals and making some decent points.
In reply to the comment above regarding luck with calls. I was 63 4-3 up serving 30-30 and got shafted on a horrendous call, but just delt with them better than him. He was up in arms like most french are. Where are I just got on with it. Part of the reason why I've been doing well recently. Today I played all the big points really well. Set points down came up with big forehands and big points in the breaker came up with two big serves. Onto the semi final tomorrow. Indoors or out it will be good.

For clarity I wasn't saying that you were lucky, merely noting that you might have had a bit of luck as he was clearly incensed (even by French standards) over some important decisions. I wasn't close enough to judge the calls in question but officiating at this level is frequently shocking, although umpiring with a single line judge is obviously not easy.
And yes you played very well when down set points and at key moments in the breaker.
Great to be able to see you guys in action. On not such a nice note, Dan should keep his opinions about the sexual orientation of our women's football team to himself! Very unprofessional.
These days I get sudden tennis cravings once every month or two and look up the results of players. And I'm genuinely pleased to see Fitzy where he is, because when I had last looked, he was in the 600s. I think top 300 by the year end is not that difficult if one gains momentum, because the way I see it, there isn't much difference (talentwise) within the 200-600 range.
One guy who definitely found some momentum (got himself rocket propelled, rather) is Malek Jaziri. I'm in genuine disbelief right now because when I had last looked, he was ranked in the 300s, and now he's in the top 80.
