RE: Week 31: Olympic tennis - Wimbledon (grass ;) ) - singles

Safarova is a good draw for Laura - her record at Wimbledon is awful for a player at her level, with Lucie Hradecka the only player she has beaten in her last 5 attempts. This year she won just 3 games against Kiki Bertens

The Olympics are a whole other ball game though. Look at Athens 2004 with the mens ashamed

Given the ranking of Safarova it is a very good draw, but on her day is still very dangerous, evidence being her 2nd set against Hev at Eastbourne.

Shame though Sharapova in 2nd round is not very kind.

Bally wins the first set 6-3. Pretty comfortable so far, Bally hardly threatened on serve.

Szavay's limited match practice probably telling but she might improve as the match wears on for this reason

What are the ranking points for the women's (and men's) Olympic tennis? Can't find it anywhere.

Tomorrow's schedule:

Laura - 13:30 Court 14
Heather - 13:30 Court 18

They also clash with Andy, so chances of any coverage are pretty slim.

Strange court choice for Laura's match, but at least both are on televised courts so the matches will be streamed.

With 3 Brits playing singles tomorrow having them all play 2nd match isn't ideal to say the least.

Bally's last ever Olympic tennis match, I imagine... hmm

how do they decide who gets the bronze out of the 2 losing semi-finalists? is it on countback, no of sets or games won, or do they do a play-off?
