The European Championships count as an enhanced Grade 1 event (more points in the later stages) but our trio are unseeded (it appears that Pippa Horn is a late withdrawal), and will be hard pushed to make the later stages
Only an hour's play possible today so both matches postponed until Thursday. With Pippa pulling out Katy has been paired with Liechtenstein's only player in doubles (most nations have exactly 2 players who play together in the doubles) - quite a bonus as Kathinka von Deichmann is top 50
Of possible interest to Jonny is that the other seed in his section (a strong Spaniard) has withdrawn, so someone outside the top 100, will make the quarterfinals and earn good points
youre right david-good points on offer though jonny beat the spaniard last time out -a good result for him against a strong clay courter if i remember correctly
The first win today was expected, but an excellent second this evening (match moved indoors, against a player who played 3 tiebreak sets in his first match, both of which which might have helped) against a useful young French boy. The semis is apparently (from Jonny's twitter) against the very strong top seed (French Open champion)
R4
Jonny O'Mara (GBR) d. Anton Dubrov (BLR) 6-0 6-1
QF
Jonny O'Mara (GBR) d. (16) Maxime Hamou (FRA) 6-0 7-5
Yes, it should take Jonny to just inside the top 100. According to his twitter he lost the semi in 2 tiebreaks (don't know the exact score) after serving for both sets - so another fine effort considering the calibre of opponent
