Lisa was a set and 4-1 up. Poor from Mel, again.

Not quite, but she was 3-2 and 4-2 up in the second, before losing 4 in a row. However, a lot of the games were going to deuce so even at 4-2 I wasn't convinced she would see it out.

Not a single Brit in the QF of a home 25k. Quite shocking really.

There is such a big gulf between the top 4 and the rest, with Joko and Broady hovering in the gap, and Jade, Emily, Lisa, Tara and Mel all just beneath. Im just waiting for one to really kick up a gear and join them - it looked like Naomi would but alas she has plateaued

Bad day at the office for Jade, she played a blinder yesterday, and today couldn't get her serve going.
On the bright side, if she could have, she'd probably have won.

The other two lost to seeds, but I agree very dissapointing.

Unfortunately unless Mel loses some serios weight and sorts her fitness/footwork out, I don't think she's going to to get up even to where she was. Her highest WR ranking was 99, and this week looked like a 300-400 ranked player. Better at dubs, but still making too many UEs compared to the Japs they played.

I wouldn't say there was a big gap between JoKo and the top 4, a gap yes but not a big one. I think one forgets that JoKo has had no WCs so no cheap points and has also suffered badly with niggly injuries. I would say there was then a gap between JoKo and Naomi, and then a big gap to the rest, with Tara by far the most likely to bridge that gap.
