RE: Week 30 - Challenger ($50,000) - Lexington, KY, USA (hard)

If Jamie loses this his really does only have himself to blame. Williams seems mentally gone and plays three ordinary games to grant Jamie a 3-0 lead in the decider. Then Jamie massively lets Williams of the hook and misses a good chance to get the double break. This is then nicely topped off with a horrific service game to gift Williams a route back into the match.

Baker 5-7 6-4 3-2*

Come one Jamie son, let's not chuck this away.

I am about 3-4 hours north of Lexington and its humid beyond belief here today, if its worse down there I cant imagine tennis. Still with the #1 seed only 188 ranking spots above him it could be a great week, if he 9or Alex) makes the weekend I am going to try to go down.

Boggo didn't play in the end, bit of a shambles really, he's not even 1st on today, but 3rd match (although one match only had a final set to play) after 12 on court 7, whilst all the other courts kick off at 11. JB plays his 2nd rd, 2nd on after 7pm on centre

*****

L16:  Alex Bogdanovic WR 379 vs Benjamin Mitchell (AUS) WR 252

Mitchell did for the second seed, Victor Estrella (WR 193), by 2 & 0 earlier... hmm

Jamie broken straight away, having saved a couple of bps.

Both players holding without too much trouble. 2-3*

Jamie gets to bp but is too passive and his short bh is punished. Shame as he had played well that game up to the crucial moment. *2-4

Baker holds for 3-4* Both players guilty of missing a few too many returns. Jamie very deep when returning both first and second.

Jamie fights back to 40-40 with a super deep volley setting up an easy winner then a wild shot from Reid goes long followed by a df hands Baker the break *4-4

Baker in trouble at 0-30, Reid dumps a fh in the net then attacks and finishes with a smash for 15-40, firing a fh cc pass winner to break 4-5*

Reid holds from 15-30 with a couple of big first serves to take the opening set 4-6 Jamie played some decent tennis in that set

--

Baker holds 1-0*

Terrible smash from Reid after a deep defensive lob from Jamie, hits bottom of the net, followed by a fh long for 0-40. Super aggressive return from Jamie of a 2nd serve, immediately attacks the net and volleys a winner to break to 15 *2-0

Baker holds to 40. 3-0*

Careless drive volley from Reid goes wide  for 30-30 then he pushes a bh long to give Jamie bp. Reid saves it with a good first serve. Another bp. Reid hands Baker another break with a df *4-0 That game was full of gifts from Reid

5-0* Reid seems more interested in debating something with the umpire.

Matt holds from 0-30 with some aggressive fhs *5-1

Baker saves a bp with a good volley before holding to take the set 6-1

--

Lucky winner allows Reid to hold *0-1

Baker holds to 30 1-1*

Baker breaks as Reid follows a super volley winner with a wild fh long for bp then goes for too much off Baker's deep shot *2-1

Easy hold 3-1*

A couple of winners from Jamie make it 30-30 then a df brings bp but Jamie's blocked return is too short and Matt puts away a fh then finds two good serves to hold *3-2

Aggressive play from Reid gets him the break. Jamie needs to find a way to win points rather than just rely on errors as Matt has come alive 3-3*

Reid dominant 3-4*

Jamie holds to love 4-4*

A couple of wild fhs from Reid and some aggressive play from Baker produces 2bps. First one saved with a good serve but Baker produces a low return then a forehand pass to break *5-4

Horror show as Jamie is broken to love, gifting Matt 3 of the 4 points including a df and a terrible bh into the net, just one first serve in play 5-5*

*5-6

Missed most of the last game. Jamie broken to 30 saved 2 mps 5-7

Boggo saves 2 break points, otherwise it would have been 4-0.
