RE: Week 29 - Great Britain F11 ($10,000) - Felixstowe (Grass)

In the end, all four QFs went to 3 sets! (though they all ended up with the triumph of experience over youth, as it were, which I was kind of expecting at the start of the day) - looks like the LTA slightly mis-typed the Corrie score in their tweet earlier, btw:

QF: (WC) Tom Burn WR 1045 beat Oliver Hudson WR 1096 by 5-7 6-0 6-2 smile.gifcry.gif
QF: (WC) Josh Ward-Hibbert UNR lost to Marcus Daniell (NZL) WR 758 by 6-1 3-6 7-6(3) cry.gif
QF: Alex Slabinsky WR 1140 beat Matt Short WR 769 by 6-4 6-7(3) 6-3 biggrinbleh
QF: (5) Ed Corrie WR 548 beat (WC) George Coupland WR 1390 by 6-7(3) 6-2 6-2 smilecry

SF: (WC) Tom Burn WR 1045 v Marcus Daniell (NZL) WR 758
SF: (5) Ed Corrie WR 548 v Alex Slabinsky WR 1140

An all-GB Futures Final between two 26-year-olds both ranked outside the top 1000 - that must be a first!

Career highs are a lot higher of course - Alex's is 266, set in 2008, and Tom's is 611, set in 2005.

And I mentally predicted a final of Corrie vs Daniell!

Shows how wrong one can be!

Congrats to Slabba! That's his 3rd Futures singles title and his first since May 2010.

The Final seems very close - 3 breaks per set, Slabba won the 1st 7-5, Burn the 2nd by the same score.
