Oli is the no. 1 seed in a pro circuit event for the first time ... but the three Brits fill lines 1-3 of the draw. doh

L32: (1) Oli Golding WR 513 v Ashley Hewitt WR 1142
L32: Jack Carpenter WR 947 v (WC) Joseph van Dooren UNR (junior CH 98 in Jan)

Funnily enough, Ashley leads the H2H against Oli 1-0, having beaten him 4 & 4 at St Cugat back in 2009 when Oli had just turned 16.

QF: (1) Oli Golding WR 513 v (Q) Thannasi Kokkinakis (AUS) WR 1500

The QFs will be played on Friday. Kokkinakis is just 16 and he upset the no. 7 seed 0 & 5 today.

He & his Greek mate, Markos Kalovelonis (WR 2616), also upset the second seeds (Oli & Ashley) by 4 & 1 in the doubles QF! furious

Oli ended up losing 6 games from 4-2 up to go 4-6 0-2 down, won the next game to deuce, lost the next 2 to go 1-4 down and then looks to have retired.
