L16: Jack Carpenter WR 947 v Nico Matic (GER) WR 1305 L16: (3) Dan Smethurst WR 398 v (Q) Raomain Bauvy (FRA) UNR
The way the score in Oli's match went seems to suggest an injury getting worse or illness, hope he's ok.
Given Oli's tweet, I don't think it was a bad stomach he was suffering from as he was cheering himself up with Vanilla Ice Cream Crepes and Caramel sauce !!
Let's hope he is back on form next week as it looks like he may get the Nº1 seeding !!
Looks like it could be a temperament issue. May have lost a bad service game and then completely lost it, or perhaps I'm talking from personal experience!
Barking mad results here, with Dan the 3rd seeded Brit to lose to a French qualifier today (along with (2) Josh Milton in Pitesti and (8) Toby Martin in Izmir) and Jack beating Oli's conqueror pretty convincingly.
Van Beem took 3 sets to beat an unranked qualifier in R1 and then got through today when the 8th seed retired against him, so this is a big opportunity for Jack to make a semi. Then again, it's been such a mad week here (non-GB seeds have been dropping like flies too) that it's anyone's guess what might happen tomorrow!

QF: Jack Carpenter WR 947 beat (Q) Colin Van Beem (NED) WR 1915 by 7-6(4) 6-4
SF: Jack Carpenter WR 947 v (1) Germain Gigounon (BEL) WR 375
This is Jack's second Futures singles SF of the year (after Vietnam - that probably means 2nd ever) - the draw really opened up for him, but don't Knokke it!
