Tight win for Fitzy but a win nonetheless. Perhaps grass isn't his favoured surface? Glad that he has made it through to the quarters. Ilkley has done well to avoid all the showers. Only recently finished with them in Sheffield/Rotherham when the weather forecast had us dry!!!

Searching for tennis courts. I reckon there's about 1 court per 25,000 people in our wonderful borough :(

It isn't being played on grass and I think it is being played indoors.

Fitzy tweeted yesterday "onto next round at the indoor tournament #ilkley".
I know this is very anti-British Tennis of me, but my most pleasant surprise of the week so far is that Evo has made it through to the quarters. Every time I see him play I want to give him a damn good shake and tell him to play like the potential top 100 player that there is inside.

It's a case of 'get Olivetti' (on a 7-match Brit-bashing streak over the last 2 weeks), I would say!

I think that is a point that many of us agree with. I always feel that he really struggles for motivation when playing at this level. It really is a bizarre that a player can look so good when playing against a top 200 player and then lose in the first round of a futures event a couple of weeks later.
He did of of course start this year in a fairly enocouraging way but missed a couple of months through illness and so his ranking has ended up back down at 377. I would hope that a good run in the British/Irish futures over the next 4/5 weeks would repair his ranking and get him back on the challenger tour.
