my only very slight gripe was that it would've been good prep for them to pay at the same tournament this week so they could play doubles. Not that I'm moaning about Laura playing on clay, it's a good move that can only help improve her movement.

What a win - Kops-Jones & Spears reached the Wimbledon QFs last week!

That should take Hev well into the doubles top 100 on Monday (even the R1 win gave her a very good chance of getting there), so she'll be both GB no. 1 and top 100 in both singles and doubles. Not bad

I think when you're on your way up the rankings it's often feasible to get a very good win over a much higher ranked player. They don't know you and
you're not tied up by the weight of expectation.

Andy's move up the rankings was amazing, following him from Juniors into the Senior tour was a real treat. I hope Heather can consolidate on some good wins and win a few
absolute blinders to give her confidence. But the week in week out grind doesn't go away and you have to just get used to beating the people your ranking says you should even on a bad day at the office. Hard work and no headlines aren't always easy to swallow .

SF: Marina Erakovic (NZL) & Heather Watson v (3) Natalie Grandin & Vladimira Uhlirova (RSA/CZE)

No doubles on the schedule for today, but thankfully Heather has now made the main draw in Carlsbad so not a problem for her.

Week 28 - WTA Premier ($740K) - Stanford, USA Hard

Great news, I'll be staying up to watch.

By making the singles final, and accruing at least 319 additional points (320 for final -1 defending), does Vandeweghe overtake the four leading British girls on Monday, nudging them all down one? Currently Vandeweghe is on 565. Plus 319 would be 884 - just enough I think.

Excellent news for Heather - especially good to have doubles success under her belt ahead of the Olympics!
I think she'd be on around 10.30/11.00pm UK time today - depends how long Serena and Coco take!

OOP Sunday, July 15, 2012

Stadium (from 13.00hrs)
1. Singles Final: Serena Williams vs. Coco Vandeweghe
2. Doubles Final: Gajdosova/King vs. Erakovic/Watson

It looks as if we could have four British girls in the top 100 tomorrow. It must be a while since that last happened.
