RE: Week 26 - WTA ($11M) - Wimbledon, UK Grass (Main Draw)

Good luck to the girls tomorrow

2 out of 3 would make me very happy 1 out of 3 i'd be a bit miffed. 3 losses and i may give up

I'm counting on Hev, Naomi if she got herself together (which hardly happens as her WR reflects), and I have no clue about Konta as I've never seen her play, but as she's up against WR28, I've decided it's going to be a no.

1 would be par, I think. If either Naomi or JoKo win I think it would time to rejoice.

Court 16 and 17, courts Broady and Konta are on are both streamed courts, livescorehunter are showing the matches before them, whether or not the BBC will show them, I dont know.

I may be miles behind with this (and have failed to notice someone else saying it) or simply wrong, but as far as I can tell this is the first time 3 British women have got into the main draw on ranking alone for 20 years.

If so, it also seems to be the first time since that same year (1992) that we have had 4 direct acceptances into the two singles main draws combined, since the last 3 times we've had 3 male DAs (2006 Tim/Greg/Andy, 2002 Tim/Greg/Martin Lee and 1995 Greg/Jeremy Bates/Mark Petchey), we didn't have any female DAs and in 1994, when the 3 from 1995 and Clare Wood made it, Greg was still playing for Canada.

Woohoo! Hopefully we'll get a record number into R2 too.

There were actually 4 British women in R2 as recently as 2004 (Anne, Bally, Emily & Jane O'Donoghue) - if that happened again (tough but just about conceivable - the odds suggest 3 through would be 'par'), it would be only the 2nd time in 20 years.

The last time 5 British women reached R2 was 25 years ago in 1987 (Jo Durie, Anne Hobbs, Annabel Croft, Julie Salmon & Lisa Gould), but that's going to be extremely difficult to match.

Wimby live scores are doing my head in already.

Am I being a numpty, cos I can't seem to get the scores I want into a small space in the corner of my desktop because of the waste of space surround. Has anyone got any other suggestions?
