I watched this match during my lunch break and Schiavone was playing Kvitova in exactly the same way as Laura and causing her just as many problems.

Kvitova must have found a solution though as she started winning pretty much every game from the point where I stopped watching.

The fact that Schiavone eased into the last 16 showed that Laura was just unlucky with her 1st round draw.

yeah it shows how well Laura did.

Interestingly the change in momentum seemed far more related to Frans frustration at the weather (which formed the majority of her post-match interview ) than Kvitova stepping it up.

When you consider the rest of the results for the people who beat the GB women, the GB results on the whole (barring the Errani one) look pretty decent. Radwanska plays beautifully, doesn't she. If a non-GB player is going to win, have to say that Serena (comeback, power) v. Radwanska (style, first-time, from non-tennis powerhouse country, etc) is a pretty good matchup.

for once i deliberately wont watch == love womens tennis but just cannot stand serena williams after last years us open when her behaviour was appaling.
