RE: Weeks 26 & 27: Wimbledon (grass) - men's singles

Missed opportunity. James probably should have broke at the start of the fifth and I don't think Fish would have come back from that.

Great effort from James, he was coming from behind for pretty much all of both his matches but Fish managed to get the momentum back in his favour towards the end and get the break.

What a lovely match to watch. I think James played to the best of his ability but has limited experience of playing 5 setters against a seed in a Grand Slam. Just like most players do !

A definite moistness in the eye region here. But I watched James not Andy and that says a lot about how entertaining this match was. And I know that might seem insignificant but if people don't enjoy watching tennis they don't follow and support it by buying tickets.

Well done James, shame you didn't win but there's next year..

Heart-breaking for James after spending four hours & 13 minutes on court battling the Mardy One.   It was *3-3 in the fourth set when I logged off at work & the last thing I expected when I arrived home was to find him still in it.  Fish may not be 100%, but I guess his greater experience as a seeded player on the big stage told in the end. hmm  So sorry for him.  Hope James gets another WC next year, especially after that standing ovation!

If he keeps on playing like that he may not need a wild card next year - he may get in on ranking!

He also did a post match interview which must be tough and somewhat unusual for him. But didn't just wimp out about how lovely it was to be at Wimby
yadda yadda.. But that he'd lost and that isn't a good result. Good man shows the right mindset.

Unbelievable. Nadal has been "simply outplayed" by the Czech WR 100 Luká Rosol. I only caught the last game but from the commentator's analysis it sounds like Nadal was not having an off day.

For those who know their tennis history way better than me: how does this rank in Wimbledon upsets??

I am stunned, absolutely stunned. Watched a fair bit or the last two sets and Rosol won this. It wasn't a case of Nadal having a bad day Rosol was simply outstanding.
Watch it on iplayer , believe me it's worth it.

rosel fully deserved that rafa didnt even come close to breaking him in the 5th his serve was too good. Also this is probably going to be possibly andy's best ever chance to win wimbledon,

Never seen anything like it, doubt I'll ever see anything again like it #ROSOL

Agree this opens the way nicely for Andy to make the final but dare we look further than the next round in all honesty. There's a long way to go yet but who knows maybe, just maybe.......

How has Rosol lost in Qualy round 1 in each of the last 5 years, winning just 1 set out of 11?? confuse

Astonishing from Rosol - like watching Del Potro on speed. Makes a complete mockery of his grand slam record.

That was the epitome of 'big boy tennis'.

He won't be able to keep doing that obviously, otherwise he wouldn't be ranked where he is, but just enjoy it for what it is worth.
Well done to the man.
