Thanks for link, I hadn't seen it before. Anyway, folk should never need feel a need to apologise for posting something that may have been posted before
Glad to see that Jonny has been awarded a Civic Reception. Thoroughly deserved. Some journalistic license, but at least they have taken the trouble to cover it.

Searching for tennis courts. I reckon there's about 1 court per 25,000 people in our wonderful borough :(
Just to signpost a nice little article in the online version of Tennis highlighting Marray/Nielsen at Wimbledon as the doubles performance of the year (though those of a sensitive disposition might wish to skip the first paragraph).

A lot of the other categories in their 12 for '12 are interesting with good background reads, and have quite a lot of other British interest with :
Men's coach of they Year : Ivan Lendl
Men's Tournament of the Year : Olympic Games
Women's Upset of the Year ( Honourable Mention ) : Laura Robson vs Li Na at the US Open
Women's Newcomer of the Year : Laura Robson ( Men's is Jerzy Janowicz )
Men's Most Improved Player of the Year : Andy Murray ( they like Ivan ) ( Women's is Sara Errani )
There is a Quotes of the Year Category ( Men's is Andy Roddick, Women's is the short and sweet "Good luck with that" from Victoria Azarenka on being told the WTA were seriously commited to reducing grunting )
Also Feuds of the Year, and to come : Biggest Disappointments, Comebacks of the Year, Runner-ups of the Year ( fortunately I am sure won't be Andy ! ), and Stories of the Year.
They also pick Men's Player of the Year as Novak Djokovic and Women's Player of the Year as Serena Williams.

After looking (without success) for Jonny Marray in the New Year's Honours List, I was grateful for (Mr Stakhovsky's end of) the tweeted exchange between Neil Harman and Sergiy Stakhovsky:
@NeilHarmanTimes: Mixed emotions today. Huge congratulations to Andy Murray OBE. So sad to hear of passing of Tony Grieg, former England captain. RIP
Sergiy Stakhovsky @Stako_tennis: @NeilHarmanTimes what about Johny Marray??no award for him got being a first Brit to win @Wimbledon ???
@NeilHarmanTimes: @Stako_tennis @Wimbledon Jonny overlooked unfortunately. Guess that doubles doesn't count after all.
Sergiy Stakhovsky @Stako_tennis: @NeilHarmanTimes @wimbledon but that is such a bad gesture! after all no matter what you do for you country, you will be overlooked .. #shame
I suppose that it's because there were so many Olympians/Paralympians to honour this time around ... but I should think that Mr Marray's display of British fair play (and his work with young people on the same via the LTA) + Wimbledon title would make him quite a good candidate for honours at some point. Perhaps a crowd-sourced nomination?
