there is no reason why he can't have a good career for the next 4 or 5 years, maybe longer.
As you know I'm a massive fan of doubles, but I was amazed to see that Daniel Nestor (joint No 1) is only 2 months shy of his 40th birthday! Only 4 of the top 20 doubles players are under 30.

Can only reiterate what an amazing, awe inspiring win this was last night. The composure shown by both players was outstanding. Well done Jonny and Freddie.
One thing surprised me in Freddie's interview - he says he plans to continue with his singles career and will play doubles just as long as it fits in with that. I hope this inspires him to rise up the rankings but he's not young as singles players go and I'd have thought there would be more rewards playing the doubles circuit on the ATP tour. Pity for Jonny if he has to keep changing partners as he's proved what a great one he makes. Good Luck to both of them. I wonder if they'll ever top this but what a wonderful achievement for them both. Such a great night.
I will be citing his act of sportsmanship at 4-0 in the 3rd set tie breaker for a very long time to come. Nobody saw his racket hit the net. The camera that showed the infringement would not normally have been replayed and nobody would have been any the wiser. They were playing for high stakes, and 5-0 is very different to 4-1. But he did the right thing.
To contrast this (You've probably already seen it) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhUmGiT5GqY Also, do you remember how James Blake laid into Fernando Gonzales after their Olympic semi final?
Earlier in this thread somebody said that that nice guys win even before the competition starts. Hear hear!
Well if Freddie doesn't want to play much doubles, I doubt if Jonny will be short of offers for partners. He was by far the better player of the two last night, I thought.

I thought that Freddie played some absolutely brilliant stuff but he also missed quite a lot of pretty simple volleys and put a lot of pressure of Jonny's serve, the final game being just one example of this. Jonny probably never quite hit Freddie's highs but he was rock solid all match.
As you say, Jonny will have lots of people wanting to partner him. People who in the past barely ever acknowledged him will now be telling him how they have always thought he was a good player and that they would love to be his partner. Hopefully he will remain down to earth enough to see through some of the self serving advances and choose the right partner(s).

Was I alone in imagining there was probably already a message on his phone from someone else called J M*rray by the time he got back in the locker room?
I think I'm joking ...

Mmm I wondered about that partnership - have they played together before?
