Delighted for Jonny. Freddie was inspirational in the final tiebreak, ensuring Bob Bryan lost 3 points on serve, after dropping hardly any points for 3 sets

Approximately where will Marray be ranked after getting to the final?

 About 34 by my reckoning.

So pleased for Jonny! Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke especially as his career was in doubt before two shoulder operations in order to continue playing.

Watching the match it seemed unlikely that the Bryans serve would ever let them down with so many love games, I think it was determination that won the day.

Who'd'a thunk it?

Final:  (5) Robert Lindstedt & Horia Tecau (SWE/ROU) vs (WC) Jonny Marray & Freddie Nielsen (DEN) biggrin

Loveliest tennis tweet of the day -- from Emily Webley-Smith: "It's not true that nice guys finish last.Nice guys are winners before the game even starts. And this one @JonnyMarray is into a Wimby final."

The first time either of them have ever reached a final on the main tour.

Jonny had never reached a semi, Freddie had never even won a match.

I had looked at the ATP site and seen that Freddie's record was 7 wins and 7 losses but it seems that all 7 wins were in the Davis Cup.

Again, lots of interviews with Nielsen in the Danish papers. From which a few quotes

"I had wondered if I would ever be in a Wimbledon final. Now I am in one. Its fantastic. I was unhappy that we played the semifinal on court 12. I had hoped for one of the largest. But now I presume that we will play the final on Centre Court. That pleases me very much. "

(And later, one presumes .... )

"Now we will play on Centre Court. Ive always had a feeling that I would come to play there, but I was not entirely sure, so its almost too good to be true, that I now have the chance. "

Thats the best part of it. You dont want to go easily into the finals... you want to beat the best players. Personally, I will be able to say that I got to the final and that we beat some really good players on the way, and didnt just have an easy path there. Im really glad about that. They are big stars in the [world of] doubles teams, and they are players that I personally look up to and try to learn from, so to beat them at Wimbledon is the best."

All the best for them both today. They've made history already ... hope they can do it again. It's been a delight to follow. Thanks, gentlemen.

If they win, they'd probably get into the Tour Finals anyway, as a place is reserved for GS winners even if they don't end the year in the Top 8. Don't know what would happen if they were, say, 10th and an equally unheralded pair then won the US Open, though!
