No, not a good day, but in most of the matches the ranking difference is huge. We can't expect them all to "do a Kyle", nice as it would be
Which I guess goes back to the freeby wildcard situation that someone posted on another thrread.
Because, by definition, a WC is going to be significantly lower-ranked than just about everyone else in the draw, it's bound to be tough for any of them to get a win, let alone qualify.
With 8 WCs, if you're lucky, you'll get 2 or 3 with an outside chance of winning once the draw comes out, so while 2/9 (as for the men yesterday) sounds bad, it isn't really.
None of the Brits were favourites to win yesterday except perhaps Chris (close to 50:50, taking into account the H2H) so I thought before it started, 2/9 would be an ok (if not spectacular) day. I thought Bloomers probably had the best chance apart from Chris - in the end, he didn't get through, but Kyle produced an amazing win instead.
A couple of wins from the GB women today would also be fairly creditable in my opinion, if again not spectacular.
