Jade has a walkover into round 2 (Grandin is still in Birmingham) so plays third seed Stephanie Foretz Gacon after the Vesnina-Tanasugarn match (currently in its first set)
Well done to Laura for overcoming her 'illness' to get the win!
Hard to know if Laura playing twice today will favour Bally or just provide Laura with a useful warm up
Probably the latter unless it becomes a long match. If Bally plays near her best, she is the solid favourite, but based upon what I saw last week when she struggled against Hev, Laura must also fancy her chances.
Is that 8 pts for Jade even if she loses her next match ?
I think you get points for playing in particular rounds of a tournament, so so long as she turns out and plays a game or two she should get the points.
Having lost to Hev last week I'm sure Bally will be keen to show the other young up-and-coming Brit a thing or two and prove she's not gone yet. I'll be interested to see how Laura fares, her 2 pretty one-sided defeats to Annie K in recent months make me wonder if she has a few problems playing a senior Brit.
Bet365 have Bally as marginal favourite at 4/6 with Laura 11/10. I'd probably have Laura at slightly longer odds but certainly could easily go either way.
