Agree better than expected effort from Laura, just couldn't take advantage when she was in complete domination half way through the second set. I think Makarova who is one of the favourites for the title would have won a decider but anyways. Nice warmup for Wimby and also some much needed points.
I thought Hev should/could have won the 1st set and I thought whoever won that would win in straights. She will be a little disappointed with how the second panned out, but overall solid prep for Wimby.
Both Laura and Heather are in good form going into Wimbledon and playing well enough to beat at least half of the potential opponents. We just need to hope they get a good draw.
Wish I could find something similar for Wimby as I hate what they've done to their website (ie the tiny frame in the middle for the info.
Ah, it's not just me who is finding that very frustrating then! It's as if they have taken the ITF's lead and traded off a tiny, pointless increase in 'style' for a massive decrease in user-friendliness.

The first set in Heather's match was very competitive and she should've won the tb imo. The second set, her level seems to drop off and the scoreline was compounded by the fact that Safarova really hit her stride.
Didn't follow Laura's match so can't really write much--just that Makarova, like Pironkova, is very good on this surface in particular.

I agree - I keep trying to scroll down and find I'm in the wrong place so nothing happens - a real waste of space too!

Yeah, if anyone has got any alternatives, please post a link.
Not to be a curmudgeon, but if they made a mistake in terms of the rules, an apology wouldn't have been a bad idea. (Said by somebody who supports them and thinks they bring a sunny presence to GB tennis -- at least I'm not only a curmudgeon). From the comments related, I can't tell whether the "it was unnecessary, they won the match" refers to the fact that Huber made a fairly public complaint (which could have been construed as ungracious and unnecessary at that point, though not unfair) or to the more general fact of her bringing up the issue (in which case it has less validity -- it's essential that people keep to the rules, and it would have been perfectly reasonable for Huber to point this out, if not necessarily at that point).
A simple "our mistake, we're sorry, glad it didn't affect the outcome of the match" would have been less, well, teen-aged.

I agree with that, but whether their reaction was reasonable or 'teenage' depends on the circumstances. From what I can gather, Huber didn't complain to the umpire at the time, which would have been a good time to say it since it could then have been put right (if indeed there was a mistake in the first place), but instead said something snide at the net after they'd won, perhaps implying that they had deliberately tried to cheat when in fact it was a genuine mistake.
If that was the case (and it might not have been - that interpretation involves more than a little reading between the lines!) then I can see why they might be a bit miffed at Huber even if they were originally in the wrong.

Thanks, Steven. Well-made points. I guess what I meant to say was that I think their response was both potentially reasonable and a bit "teen." As you say, if there was an issue better to have pointed out at the time or (if Huber didn't realise at the time) quietly afterwards. Huber's doing so at the handshake when she and her partner had just won was somewhat insensitive, whatever the tone she took. (And yes, I am assuming it was a mistake -- no one has ever, to my knowledge, accused Watson of being unsporting, and it would seem entirely out of character for her to be so)
But, however annoying it might have been, I think a response that could be interpreted as being careless or heedless about the rules, or (in a worst case scenario, if people were looking for cause to complain) as indicating a view that "well it doesn't matter because nothing came of it anyway,"* is less "adult professional" than Watson and Robson's norm. Not that it's a big deal ...
*NB: I don't think at all (see paragraph above) that that's what they meant!
