The prize money for qualies and first round main draw has all been increased by 20+% this year where as the later rounds only up 4.5% In cash terms these places must be so valuable to our players (particulary our unfunded ones!) when trying to plan there schedules for the next months. (2011 figures in brackets)
I certainly wouldn't like to have to choose between Fitzy and Ed, if that really is what it comes down to - they've done fairly similarly this week (i.e. beaten one significantly higher-ranked player and pushed another very close), while Fitzy has a clear edge on current ranking (475 and a year younger to Ed's 589) and on improvement since the start of 2012 (+227 to +136) - in fact, along with Bloomers and Oli, they are the only four Brits in the top 600 who have risen more than 100 places this year.
I guess 'similarly this week' and 'clear edge on rankings' means Fitzy should get the nod but of course it won't be a decision they need to make if they give a QWC to a random non-Brit instead or if they don't give one to Bloomers, and I wouldn't put it past them to take either of those options ...
Fingers crossed ...

I'd pick Bloomers and Fitz for sure...one for beinga top grasscourter, the other for recent rapid improvements
Also I know Smethurst isn't much of a grasscourter (as proved by yesterday's result!) but still kinda feel bad for him after a solid 6 months...Evo as well has had a solid if unspectacular year, to go from a MDWC to not even a QWC when your ranking hasn't plummeted is a bit of a drop - who could have predicted that after his DC heroics? Then again he has been out for 2 months with injuries...
Also is this not vintage Eaton to spend the whole year getting humped by guys ranked 500 and below, only to turn up on the grass playing like a pro!?

Not seen a Bloomers QWC announced yet. Going to rise to GB No 5 on Monday and not ablel to compete in WC pay-offs ( which he shouldn't have to anyway ! ) because of ( yet again ) doing well on err grass.
His treatment certainly smacks of something personal !

Yes, I agree. However, let's not lose hope yet - I assume all of the remaining QWCs will be announced only after the playoffs have finished.
