RE: Wimbledon Wildcards

really not sure about the QWCs, Morgan and Bambers over Evo, Fitz and Smethurst especially, but I kinda see why they have given it to the young guys...certainly makes the much-vaunted 1990 lot realise they aren't seen as the future anymore and need to start performing!!

If the WC is a reward for work/rankings, I really don't understand the lack of one in the first instance for Rice/Thornley. If it's a strategic decision to be made by the team, then perhaps they opted to qualify, on the grounds that it would give them a chance to replace their points from last year rather than facing a Bryans or Mirnyi/Nestor type match-up in the first round and losing out?

Fitzy is scheduled to play this morning per his twitter:
1st on today at 11 Vs ward-hibbert. Good match up, good player, good day for it!

Or maybe not ....
Play moved back to 1230.....interesting

So it's looking like this could be the 1st wimby for 10 years without Boggo in any form!

the wimby site actually has it listed as 9 mens Q WC's available which seems odd, that could mean both blooms and corrie get one, but why would they wait to announce it rather than tell us yesterday.

Looking on Twitter it appears Fitzy won 64 76 and is playing A Ward who won in three sets.

Yes, the only other one I've seen is a suggestion that Dave Rice won.

I have no issue with Evo having to go through this, he is short on matches as he hasnt played for a while and not to be harsh but if he can't get through this he doesn't deserve to be in qualifying
