A typically "British press" like article about Jo's WC has appeared in today's Metro. It heavily implies that her switch was WC motivated - ignoring the 4 year limbo trauma she has been through. the stellar Brum results are tacked onto the end... But Ward's defeat is of course flagged up in a big article. disgraceful journalism.
Makes me sick, and most people who read it will believe it too! Scary what else must be in the news that we believe that's a pile of ****
Yes, whenever you see a story that seems a bit shocking, before just assuming it's correct it's always worth remembering how economical with the truth (or, more often, just factually wrong through sheer incompetence) the media has been in stories that you actually knew more about than the journo did.
Apart from one time a newspaper just copied out a press release verbatim, any time I've been interviewed or issued a press release over the years, they've managed to introduce factual errors from nowhere, often contradicting themselves within the same article.
Luckily for me, it has tended to be stuff that isn't that important that we have just laughed about afterwards, but it must be really horrible when it is something important or to be the subject of a malicious twisting of the facts in the media.

Wow, you've been interviewed by the press! Are you a proper pro on the tennis circuit then?
LOL no, it was nothing to do with tennis, and not national press. My (admittedly not very extensive) experience of locals and regionals is that they get their facts wrong accidentally more than the nationals (perhaps not that surprising given that each reporter tends to have to cover loads of stories each week, many of them in areas they know little or nothing about) but don't tend to maliciously twist the facts like some of the nationals seem to do.

Back on topic, I do hope Lisa and Jade are going to get those two open QWC slots after their counting themselves out of the playoffs by winning R1 here rather than them going to non-Brits.

Yes, it would be unfair otherwise, ATP gives special exempts, so surely this is the same situation.
.... or maybe it is. Latest cryptic tweet: "Off to eastbourne tomorrow, to hopefully not play, gunna be an interesting day!"
So maybe something about Eastbourne then? Or she'd only play Eastbourne qualies if she didn't get a Wimbledon QWC. Or she was told she'd get a QWC for Wimby or Eastbourne and now she's been told she has to play off against someone for it. Hope it works out for her whatever it is.

Will be an absolute nonsense if Lisa isn't given a QWC.
She shown what she can do in Wimbledon Qualifying 2 years ago, missing last year's grass court season due to injury, and has found some real form in the last few weeks, including this last week on grass !
This recent form now makes her overall 8th GB women in ranking points this year, behind just the 6 that are in the main draw ( due to ranking or MDWC ) and Mel.
Get it sorted !!

She seems to know in this interview that by winning at Nottingham she put her Wimbledon chances at risk
