Defiantely impressed that Jamie kept his head. I guess it showed the difference, and the work he's got to do if he wants to move up there. Didn't realise he had had so many injuries. Props to him.
Hmm. Suspect that people who paid astronomical sums for tickets this PM and tomorrow didn't think they'd be paying to watch Dimitrov, Kevin Anderson and Ivan Dodig. They may be grateful one day to say they saw Dimitrov "when he was just starting" though ...
When was the last time all four top seeds (indeed all five top seeds) were gone before the QFs?

2010 Nadal was number 1 seed and only one from top 6 who made it to quarter finals! I was gutted because that year I won tickets to the final and was hoping Nadal, Djokovic, Murray would be in the mix! Instead I got Mardy Fish v. Sam Querrey! Fish was on his upward curve and Sam Querrey won to be the first person that year to win on hrad, clay and grass.
Good to see from the post-match interview that Sam Querrey has clearly been reading my posts:
Annabel Croft: So how did you learn to serve like that? Sam: I'm just blessed with some good genetics, I guess. Annabel: Have you any advice for young kids watching today? Sam: Drink your milk.

I don't think there was any alternative to disqualification, Nalbandian clearly lost it for a moment in frustration and injured a line judge. However that does look a pretty stupid place to put an advertising hoarding I would have thought it created a hazard for the players.
loads of places put the little boxes round the line judges so it's hardly unqiue, if it wasnt there he'd have basically kicked the judge!
his defeat speech was shameful too. he had long enough to compose himself after the moment before the speech. poor performance from Nalby.
Agree his speech probably wasn't appropriate, although I do agree the some ATP rules are daft.
However, it was clearly an accident on the level of smashing his racket, I think if the box hadn't been there he'd have kicked the barrier, but definately not the judge.
He was fined $8,000 at the Australian Open for throwing water at an official, so if his fine here is $12,000 or more, he will get an 8 week suspension (excluding slam weeks)
Stupid man needs anger management classes. I don't have a problem with smashing racquets - I have never understood why it should warrant a code violation, if only the racquet is hurt - but tennis officials should be able to do their duty without fear of injury by players who can't keep their temper.
I agree on all those points: a good racquet smashing is entertainment; it's like the player is temporarily taken over by the spirit of Basic Fawlty, but this was clearly negligent. It has, however, led to some wonderful headline puns - best effort so far: "Foot Fault"
