Laura and Heather's doubles were delayed because Heather's singles finished later than expected. So they played the final match on the outside courts, and when Jankovitch got the walk over because Dellaqua pulled out they moved Heather/Laura to centre court with a 5pm start. I left after the first set, but even before I got to the car it had started raining and it rained most of the evening, so I expect they never went out again.
Laura is in the qualifying draw due to play Borthwick. Intersting match between Broady and Konta too. Bally 6th seed. Wybourn and Webley Smith QWCs too. Which makes me think They have both NOT got QWCs for Wimbledon.

With play called off for the day, it's looking increasingly like Laura may have to miss Eastbourne qualies just to complete a R1 doubles match they are currently losing

cant see it discussed. But Anne and heather got wcs. I dont know for sure, but im guessing an international player got it. Heather also has to make the trip to Eastbourne as well so won't surprise me if they pulled out.
Just noticed that Casey Dellacqua withdraws from her match against Jankovic - kinda sad Tara didn't get the free passage, still she should be proud of her week.
Laura and Heather in the order of play for two doubles matches tomorrow - but Laura also has a singles qualifier at Eastbourne so looks like she is in for a busy day.
Heather and Laura have now withdrawn from the doubles (from the Aegon Classic twitter)
No doubt the weather forecast being much nicer for Eastbourne than for Edgbaston will have influenced Laura's decision (I assume it's Laura who chose to withdraw)

Given that it's forecast to rain most of the day in the Midlands (and I'm about 30miles from Edgbaston) I reckon they might have to abandon the doubles event here altogether.
It's grey and windy, but not actually raining (I'm 2 miles from Edgbaston) - much like it's been all week.
However the scheduling takes my breath away - Heather and Laura down for 3rd (= last) on an outside court, for a round 1 match. the quarterfinal doubles were down for 2nd 3rd and 4th. Why for heavens sake after a days rest didnt' they put them on first, then there was a chance of playing and getting down to Eastbourne for tomorrow? perhaps they get the points whatever they do, they were losing anyway. The oop is still not updated with the walkover.

They couldn't put them on first - one of their opponents (Hsieh) is still in the singles, and is due on court first
I've just looked at this! how embarrassing, I recognise philwrig - if that's you 2nd on the right - I was the person who asked you to move out of my seat!! near the beginning of Laura's match. I'll say hello properly next time!
I'm coming tomorrow after 4pm if the weather's OK, and then Thursday daytime, again assuming weather OK, I'll look out for you guys!
I did think you were quite knowledgeable for a typical Edgbaston spectator. I think I may have spotted you then later on in the week during Hev's match with Vinci. Where you sitting in the front row behind the umpire's chair to the right ? Next time hopefully I can say a proper hello !
