How do they decide on the WR? I am surprised to see Wabson with such a low one.

They add the doubles ranking of the two players together.

Heather is 143 and Laura 1073 so their combined ranking is 1216.

Thanks, I thought there was some system whereby their singles ranks counted towards their dubs one?

In ATP tournaments players can use their singles ranking to gain entry to a tournament but all seedings are based on the combined doubles ranking, i.e Andy can use his singles ranking when playing with Jamie to get them into all the Masters Series and Grand Slams but they wouldn't be seeded. I don't think this rules applies to Women's tournaments but I'm not 100% sure.

Could the third of our wild card pairings be on the way to a surprise win?    Sam & Webbers take the first set by 6-2. smile

Confirmed by the ITF, if not yet by the LTA ( ):

QF:  (WC) Laura Robson & Heather Watson WR 1216 "defeated" Melanie Oudin & Conny Perrin (USA/SUI) WR 421 by a walkover

*****

SF:  (WC) Laura Robson & Heather Watson WR 1216 vs (WC) Tara Moore & Mel South WR 820

Who'd'a thought it? wink

I sent a tweet to Anna Smith last month and she replied saying she's still making plans for a comeback, although no date set yet.
