And they've done it!  The fifth seeds are out on their respective @rses in straight sets! biggrin

R2:  (5) Robert Lindstedt & Horia Tecau (SWE/ROU) lost to Treat Conrad Huey (PHI) & Dominic Inglot by 3 & 4

Will somebody please help me (the ATP site is less than clear! furious )?  Do they pick up a minimum of 90 or 180 points for that win? confuse

It's 180 points for that win, having reached the L16  smile  . It is the same reward for reaching the last 32, last 16, Qf, SF, F and winning the whole thing as for the singles.

I think they get 180 points for reaching R3 (R16).

I just looked up a player at random who lost in R3 at the USO (Mark Knowles) and he clocked 180 points for it.
So, he'd banked the 180 already by winning in R2, had he won in R3 it would be 360 for reaching the Quarter-final.

Cheers, Indy.    I was sure some kind soul would come to my rescue eventually.  I'm easily flummoxed by numbers & I just couldn't make up my mind whether the last 16 meant exactly that in doubles, given that there are actually 32 players... wink  Nice day's work for them. smile  They're surely heading for the MD in SW19?

Well done to the DITCH partnership. Long may it prosper in this tourney and beyond.

That win should put Dom into the top 100, and he has nothing to defent until November.

Yep!  He's just confirmed it in a lovely interview with Inverdale on ITV4.  He'll also apparently be playing mixed with Laura. wink  Nottingham & Queen's also feature in his & TCH's plans.

Not sure I can claim to have had a hand in the sudden ITV4 interest, but I was incensed when Inverdale mentioned on Wednesday that two Brits were involved in the doubles that day, Jamie & Annie K.  I fired off an e-mail to ITV pointing out that Dom & Jonny M would also be in action with their respective partners, mentioning that Dom & Chris Eaton dumped out Nestor & Zimonjic, the defending champions, in the second round at Wimbledon two years ago.  It was acknowledged quite quickly & the next time Inverdale mentioned the doubles (after Dom & TCH had won), all four were shown on screen. wink

Yes I can concur that was a lovely interview, had wondered why Robbo had congratulated the winning pair on twitter, now I know why.

Interesting to hear him pronounce "Treat" to rhyme with "Brett"!  Also his comment that their combined ranking is about 160, so they were about last but one to squeak into the draw here.  So glad they did!

My 2 favourite bits were the discussion about Rob Hill's (Fed Cup physio) designs for protective tape, and also booking budget airline tickets once they've lost in a tournament.

Agree about the budget airline thing.  It was a useful hook on which to hang comments by Inverdale linking them to Jim Courier's support for the campaign to have the miserly amounts of prize money paid to the journeymen & women who go out in the early rounds of Grand Slams increased so that they stand a better chance of making ends meet as they trek round the professional circuit.

Slightly off topic, I've been very impressed with Jim Courier's contribution to the coverage.  I never really warmed to him as a player, but he's remarkably objective (cf. his comments on the Isner/PHM match) & brings some useful insights to the table. loki8.gif

R3:  Treat Conrad Huey (PHI) & Dominic Inglot vs (10) Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi & Jean-Julien Rojer (PAK/NED)

Having downed the fifth seeds today, they should find the tenth seeds a pushover... wink

I think the ITV coverage overall has been very good, definitely a step up from Eurosport. Courier not in John Mac's class but still interesting to hear his insight, and Petch proving again that he is by far the best Sky commentator.
