Great battling performance from Laura, 3 sets in a row won from *4-5 down.

I suspect she will need to play better than today to beat Pliskova though.

OMG that was a bit close for comfort biggrin

Bet it felt pretty jittery for  Laura too.  But Brilliant, just brilliant, and obviously not easy.

Excellent So at last Laura gets the chance to avenge that 2012 AO girls' defeat to Karolina Pliskova!

What's her clay record like? (Sorry,  bit lazy to check myself)

I'm impressed at Laura's performance so far. But I cannot see her progressing any further, Pliskova on clay is a pretty big ask. But fingers crossed it goes her way on the day :D

I noticed that a lot of seeds have gone out already. As far as I can see there isnt too many seeds playing seeds in the FQR. Should that mean Watson would be almost garunteed a LL spot if she loses tomorrow? Also If there are no seeds going out in FQR could Robson get a LL spot through a pot luck draw?

Before this match started I was reading a thread on TF by a guy who watched the whole of Laura's 1st round match. He said that she played well in the first but was poor in the second, and that the Spaniard was very poor. It made me think that this match might be tougher than I originally expected and so thats how it worked out.
Interestingly I assumed Thorpey would have been a baseline grinder without any weapons, certainly her serving stats would suggest that, but Barry Flatman who was courtside described the French lady as hard hitting.
As for Pliskova, its not her preferred surface either, must better on hard or grass. Today she was 33/36 on first serve, so she probably edges Laura on that aspect, and IMO you have to make Pliskova favourite maybe 60/40.

I remeber asking this question before last year's tournament. The top 4 seeds knocked out in the final qualifying round go into a random draw for any LL spots.

Heather would definitely be in that draw if she lost (provided there are any LL spots), and Laura has 6 seeds above her (but one of those is Pliskova) so she could also benefit.

Tomorrow Heather is first (9am?) on court 10, Laura fourth and last match on court 6.
