The Italian circuit ramps up to a Grade 1, and Eleanor Dean gets a seeding here. The first seed she is scheduled to meet though is top seed and Wimbledon champion Ash Barty
I thought if you retired from singles you couldn't play doubles at that tournament?
You can play doubles provided the tournament doctor is satisfied that the retirement was due to medical reasons, and that the medical condition has improved sufficiently to allow the player to play without significant risk.
Only caught a few points (including one fine winner from Eleanor to break serve) but judging from the presentation Eleanor and Katerina won their second title together - the first being at the other end of the scale - a grade 5
(5) Dean/Siniakova (GBR/CZE) d. (4) Barty/Sanders (AUS) 6-4 7-6(5)
Very good win against two Aussies who are already ranked around 300 WTA in doubles (Barty also in singles) so the sort of opposition you expect in a 10K or even 25K final. In the few points I watched Siniakova was scrambling a lot of balls back from the baseline while Eleanor was the net executioner.
