The little beauty! It seems as though he never knows when he's beaten! I can't help feeling, though, that he deserves better than only 15 measly points for a win like that! Career best, I presume?

Well done Baker. I think his career best win was against Huyng Taik-Lee or soemthing like that at Queens? He was ranked in the 30's. Plus he beat Calleri in a dead rubber on clay? I may be completely wrong with this information as I'm just going by memory.
Completely agree on points system ... had just checked and had similar thoughts. Early points for challengers just aren't strong enough. You beat Zverev and Kunitsyn ... and get the same number of points you'd receive as the finalist in a futures tournament? You can see why there's not much incentive for players to take the step up to challengers.

1) The Calleri win in DC was his career best, but I have a feeling that might be his biggest scalp otherwise.
[...]
2) Jamie has now won 7 matches in a row and will almost certainly take out his 2007 career high at last - I make him about WR 206 at the moment.
[...]
3) QF: Jamie Baker WR 215 v Peter Polansky (CAN) WR 203 (CH 164 in 2009)
H2H 0-2 - 3 sets in 2010, 2 t/bs in 2011, both in N America.
1) Thanks for setting me straight, Steven. I had a vague recollection of the DC tie, but didn't remember Calleri being quite so highly ranked.
2) And surely very near the front of the queue for a wild card entry to SW19?
3) I'd feel more confident about an eighth win in row, were it not for that head-to-head. Still, he never gives up...
Jamie just toughed out a hold in the first game of the 2nd set; Polansky had a couple of break point chances but Jamie defended well. PP serving now, *0-1
Baker breaks! Leading *2-0, 2nd set.
