hello all, first time poster, long time reader! only ever seen golding play before from everyone, and that was in the wimbledon juniors but he looks a lot bigger now!
i went along today - got a bit cold so went on at about fiveish, not sure if the men's QFs were going to be played, they were on the oop.
Golding played very well against Venturino, started by playing very solid, intelligent tennis in the high winds (high % first serves, measured attack) and completely outclassed his opponent for a set and a couple of games, I then went on to watch others.
Bevan didn't really deserve his score, toiled away but his opponent was tough and was just that bit more consistent and looked very at home on the clay. It was a long match for the scoreline.
Didn't see too much of Broady but everyone watching seemed very impressed by him.
Fitzpatrick looked like a very energetic and powerful player, was very impressed, Feaver didn't get a look in.
Bloomfield/Willis was a bit of a slog, big serving, slices and not many rallies.
Martin/Eriksson was a good match, Martin was a break up in the first but Eriksson looked pretty good, big shots, and roared back to win the first, it was tight in the second when I left, 2-2.
I think there was an injury in the Short/Farq match, Short was a set up and Farq was getting treatment and they'd gone about ten minutes later.
Didn't look at the all French match much but out of the lot I'd say Golding, Fitzpatrick, Broady and Eriksson were the pick of the players.
Fitzy just tweeted and he won again 4 & 4 against Bortolotti which puts him in the semis. Creeping ever closer to his (first) target of top 500. That should put him around the 508 mark. Onward and upward Fitzy.
