RE: Week 17 - Great Britain F6 ($10,000) - Bournemouth - clay

Fitzy did write "too good" in that tweet, referring to Oli. But at the same time it's Oli's first senior win and he wants people to know he worked hard for it and was the better player on the day.

Sure it will all blow over.

I see a comment on Fitzy's twitter off Carolina Betancourt sticking up for him. Forgive me if i'm behind the times but i thought she was Oli's girlfriend?

Very impressive from Oli considering he has just come back after 6 weeks out with a bad ankle strain picked up in training.

He's only a young lad, Fitzy. We know he's feisty as we've seen his behaviour previously , which is not necessarily a bad thing if channelled in the right direction. A lot of what he's said will still be the adrenalin flowing from his first win as a Senior. I'm pleased for the lad. Hope he follows it up.

Good luck in Edinburgh and hope the hand heals. Get it dunked in surgical spirit....will toughen it up no end!!

amateur hour on twitter. i think a few guys have embarrassed themselves on there and made themselves look very unprofessional.
i didnt realise carolina was olly's ex. i just thought she was another fan of tennis, wouldnt have responded to her tweet if i knew that as i guess it could have annoyed him even more.

In regards to the funding, the way i do things i have come away with a big profit from the last few tournaments, but with my housing costs at the moment i have to keep the last 2 months up all year around if im going to survive without a sponsor and thats just to live, forget the tennis side of things! ha. going to be tough but enjoying my form.

Luckily i managed to rest my hand during ncl somewhat because it wasnt such a tough match so if i take today off im hoping it will be closer to being healed and not just get re infected.

hopefully olly kicks on from this and uses the win in the right way to mature into a top professional tennis player.

As Brits I am sure we all want you BOTH to do well, I am sure you know that. I wont comment on the spat other than to say I couldn't agree with Jack Carpenters sentiments about saying nothing winning or losing. It might be the safest option but, tennis can appear to played by robots to the public. As sportmen they may be admired but can be difficult to engage with. By coming on here and explaining things you are very well admired, respected and supported. When a comment got taken the wrong way its a shame what can easily happen online but please, dont stop commenting!

It's just really great to have such good young players full of potential! Really hope both Oli and Fitzy can push on from here. I guess it's a bit of a novelty for us to have 2 Brits playing against each other - certainly at the business end of tournamnents - but hopefully it's something we'll see more and more as they move up the rankings.

Olly has his picture (along with 5 others) on front page of ITF website as winner in Bournemouth.

Huge congrats to Fitzy on making the top 500 today (or do I mean tomorrow? - now confirmed anyway at exactly WR 500!) and to Oli, up 106 at 541.
