Another tight win for Evan who next plays a Swede who has only lost 3 games so far against decent opponents. Tom got some compensation by reaching the doubles semis

R2

(8) Evan Hoyt (GBR) d. (WC) Javier Jover Maestre (ESP) 7-6(4) 4-6 6-3

Make that 3 smile  First back to back wins since the Eddie Herr (in ITFs at least). He needs to take the title to get back into the top 100 though.

QF

(8) Evan Hoyt (GBR) d. Daniel Windahl (SWE) 6-1 6-3

SF

(3) Eduard Esteve Lobato (ESP) v (8) Evan Hoyt (GBR)

I ought to add that when the draw was made qualifying had not been completed, and we had 3 girls in that event. The seeded Anna Brogan and Jazzi Plews didn't make it through, but Mariella Blackwell did, and came close to winning a round.

It gets better (albeit not in the way he would have hoped) as Evan reaches his first final above Grade 4 level

SF

(8) Evan Hoyt (GBR) d. (3) Eduard Esteve Lobato (ESP) 6-2 3-2 rtf

F

Alexander Vasilenko (RUS) v (8) Evan Hoyt (GBR)

Unfortunately he couldn't go all the way, but will still move to just outside the top 100, and is down for an Italian Grade 2 next week to make further progress towards the possibility of Roland Garros qualifying

F

Alexander Vasilenko (RUS) d. (8) Evan Hoyt (GBR) 7-6(2) 6-4
