On 'live' rankings that puts James at 141 (his highest ever?)

James's career high is 139 (22nd August last year).

Think James got a great chance wnning this match. Must be building more confidence match by match so I think he can carry this forward on to todays match. Look forward to live scoring the match.

James on Twitter: "Got the win yesterday afternoon, some more points in the bag and playing well!! Supposed to be playing today but not looking good atm.#storm!"

... play is still suspended with just 3 games played in the first match of the day on his court.

The second set was even more convincing than the 1st in terms of points won - really, really impressive.

That takes James over 100 points for 2012 so far (c.f. just 23 in the first 17 weeks of 2011) and with any luck will take him to a new career high.

L16: (7) James Ward WR 150 beat Hiroki Moriya (JPN) WR 229 by 1 & 2

QF: (7) James Ward WR 150 v (2) Go Soeda (JPN) WR 74 (CH 67 last month)

H2H: 0-1, Soeda won 5-7 6-0 6-3 at Wimbledon qualifying in 2007.

At first sight , much easier than either of the sets in last week's Final, but in fact they had 4 bps each in the 1st set - James saved all 4 and took 2 (and was serving first, hence 6-1 rather than 6-2) - great start though
