Gorban was a top 350 player in 2009. Kapukiran has a 2-20 record in singles on the pro circuit.

L32: Richard Gabb WR 892 lost to (WC) Cahit Kapukiran (TUR) UNR by 2-6 6-0 3-0 ret.

Looks like Richard got injured early in the 2nd set and eventually had to give up. A real pity, particularly when he had such a nice draw,

I think Neil saved 4 match points (at least 3). He was 6-4 down.

Very good news - the match has now appeared on the finished matches list on bet365 and ...

L32: (Q) Neil Pauffley WR 931 beat Andrei Gorban (MDA) WR 917 (CH 343 in 2009) by 4-6 7-6(8+) 6-0

The 8+ means I assume the t/b score was 10-8 but it might have gone on even longer.

L16: (Q) Neil Pauffley WR 931 v (5) Tomislav Brkic (BIH) WR 427

Gorban won the 1st set 6-4 and went an early break up in the 2nd.

Neil is now down 4-6 1-3* but has deuce on the Moldovan's serve.

Neil did eventually break at the end of that marathon game only for Gorban to break straight back, but he then borke again (this time to love) and is about to serve to get into a 2nd set tiebreak. 4-6 *5-6

8-8* in the tiebreak as Neil saves a match point on Gorban's serve (I don't know if it was the first) ... and now *9-8 as he gets a set point on his own serve ... and then almost immediately the match disappears, which makes no sense unless Gorban has won it, which in turn would make no sense unless the 9-8 to Neil was wrong ... (?)

The next match on that court (Albot v Crisovan) isn't on live scores yet, which suggests bet365 just lost contact with whoever was sending them the scores. That wouldn't mean Neil did survive the 2nd set, but it means there's still hope!

Steven:  you were right about the second-set tie-break score yesterday.  It was 10-8.
