2 possible reasons:

one, to up big brother's rankings.

two, to get used to clay.

Neil Harman says on Twitter that Colin Fleming has been diagnosed with a stress fracture by doctors in Monte-Carlo. Not sure what of or if it will prohibit his appearance here?

The latter, unfortunately! cry Their place in the draw has been taken by Marin Cilic & Marcelo Melo, who will play another pair of alternates, ERV & Gilou! hmm

That is such a shame for them. Poor Colin (and Ross).

Darn.   Stress fractures can be very variable as to how serious and how long folk are out. I guess it much depends on how quickly it's caught.

Just read Stuart Fraser on Twitter indicating that Colin out for 6 to 8 weeks.

Very unlucky for Colin but if he had to pick 6 weeks to be out this year (let's hope it's just 6!), the clay court season isn't the worst time to be out.

Interesting!  Rain has stopped play on the centre court & Court 9, but there is action on Court 2 (covered?) & that just happens to be where the Murrays are playing the Bryans!  *2-3 M&M in the first set.
